Newest addition to CompTIA's Essential Series courses

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Aug. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A new learning resource to help people raise their skills, knowledge and confidence to work with artificial intelligence (AI) is available from CompTIA, the leading global provider of vendor-neutral information technology (IT) training and certifications.

CompTIA AI Prompting Essentials is designed for professionals at any experience level and across almost all job functions who are interested in developing or enhancing practical AI skills in prompt writing, AI collaboration and the responsible use of AI.

"AI chatbots are being deployed across the modern workforce to boost employee efficiency and effectiveness, but their impact can be limited when employees are uncertain about how to use them," said Henry Mann, senior director, product development, CompTIA. "AI Prompting Essentials helps learners become more knowledgeable, comfortable and confident when working with AI in workplace settings."

CompTIA's AI Hiring Index indicates relatively higher growth in a broad range of positions where some AI skills are needed to perform effectively.1 Other CompTIA research finds that AI is the number one skills domain where HR departments plan to increase their investment in training over the next 12 months.2

CompTIA AI Prompting Essentials uses hands-on practice and realistic workplace scenarios to develop practical, job-ready skills for using AI chatbots. Engaging instruction is delivered through video, text and interactive activities in areas such as:

  • Deciding when and how to use AI for work tasks
  • Crafting effective prompts for AI chatbots
  • Evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, bias, and quality
  • Engaging with AI responses to improve outputs
  • Using AI ethically and securely
  • Using AI to automate routine tasks
  • Leveraging AI in multi-step projects and workflows
  • Using AI for common workplace functions

The self-paced course utilizes CompTIA's research-based Learning Progression Model to drive effective and efficient learning. AI-powered real-world scenarios immerse learners in project-based work so they can evaluate and hone their skills as they progress through the course. Instruction is followed by a 30-minute competency assessment. Upon completion, learners receive a CompTIA Competency Certificate (CompCert) validating their competency and actual skills, not simply course completion.

The new course expands the growing selection of CompTIA Essentials Series learning resources. CompTIA AI Essentials, which debuted earlier this year, offers a foundational understanding of AI concepts, tools and techniques essential in today's technology-driven workplace. CompTIA Essentials Series courses in business concepts, cloud computing, product management and soft skills are also available.
