Experienced leader to mobilize philanthropy to empower entrepreneurs to change the world

SOMERVILLE, Mass. and HOUSTON, Aug. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Greentown Labs—the world's largest climatetech and energy incubator—today announced the appointment of Stacey Harris as its first Head of Philanthropy. In this role, Harris will expand the nonprofit's capacity to activate philanthropic capital, strengthen local economies, and accelerate the global transition to more energy, fewer emissions, and a prosperous planet.

Harris brings more than 15 years of experience mobilizing resources for mission-driven organizations at the intersection of innovation, social impact, and philanthropy. She has led major funding portfolios and built multi-million-dollar partnerships across six continents with organizations such as Make-A-Wish International, Movember, Net Impact, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. Known for her creativity, strategic clarity, and values-driven leadership, she has advised climatetech startups, funds, and nonprofits on growth strategies and capital activation. Her career has consistently focused on unlocking capital—whether philanthropic, corporate, governmental, or individual—and aligning it with impact.

Greentown is more than an incubator: it is innovation infrastructure—a nonprofit, mission-first platform that strengthens local economies while accelerating global solutions.

Locally, Greentown serves as community infrastructure for innovation—a shared platform that empowers entrepreneurs, creates good jobs, connects ecosystems, and anchors prosperity. Just as national parks are gateways to nature, and schools and museums are gateways to knowledge and culture, Greentown is a gateway to innovation and shared opportunity.

Greentown connects two of the world's most influential global ecosystems—Massachusetts, the hub of innovation, and Texas, the center of the energy transition—and bridges the networks within and between them. In doing so, Greentown leads the way as a powerful link between key climate and energy hubs, multiplying impact far beyond any single city or state—and charting a course toward clean energy, resilient communities, and the jobs of the future in cities around the world.

At Greentown, Harris will design and lead a philanthropic strategy that complements the organization's corporate partnerships—crafting campaigns, cultivating donors, and ensuring resources flow directly to the entrepreneurs who are inventing solutions for a prosperous planet. Drawing on her experience in economic development, she will also connect philanthropy to job creation and ecosystem building, ensuring Greentown's impact resonates across communities as well as industries.

"Philanthropy has the unique power to accelerate innovation where it matters most—by backing the people and ideas that can change the world," said Harris. "At Greentown, I see an incredible opportunity to partner with local communities in Massachusetts and Texas, while also mobilizing catalytic funds that fuel entrepreneurs globally. I'm energized to work across donors, foundations, and industry to ensure these founders have what they need to go further, faster—together."

At this pivotal moment, Greentown is calling for all hands on deck to accelerate climate and energy innovation—faster. This involves inspiring states and local governments to lean in, individuals and family offices to step up, foundations to mobilize resources, and industry to invest boldly. Harris's unique experience working across all of these dimensions positions her to bring them together in service of Greentown's mission: empowering entrepreneurs to build a more prosperous, low-carbon future.

"Stacey brings national reach, local roots, and the entrepreneurial spirit we need," said Georgina Campbell Flatter, CEO of Greentown. "She understands that philanthropy isn't just about raising funds—it's about building a movement, sustaining an ecosystem, and accelerating change together."

Donors, foundations, and partners interested in learning how they can support entrepreneurs building our climate and energy future can get in touch with Harris here or meet her at Greentown's Climatetech Summit this November.
